New observatory site

With the kind support of Matt Rhode, we had an opportunity to scout out our observatory site on top of the new Smead Aerospace Building, which is currently under construction. We were also lucky enough to take a look at the lab space we will use (also currently under construction).

The raised flooring in the second picture is the 24'x24' concrete pad, featuring several pass-throughs for power / data. While the facility will largely be remotely operated, I imagine the students might make excuses to head up there from time to time.

The skies look gorgeous and unobstructed (except for the Flatirons, which is OK). Exciting!
