Dr. Erbse earned her Chemistry Diploma (equivalent to Masters Degree in the USA) and her Doctor of Natural Science (Dr.rer.nat.) from the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany. Since completing her thesis, Dr. Erbse has worked in diverse fields from protein folding and degradation to kinase signaling in bacteria and to bioenergetics.
In November 2012 she took on a new position at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry to establish and head the new Shared Instruments Pool in the Biochemistry Division at CU Boulder. In addition, she became the director of the Macromolecular X-ray Core.
Dr. Erbse has a diverse set of skils in biophysics, biochemistry, protein chemistry and molecular biology developed in over 18 years of research. This puts her in an ideal position to direct both facilities and to provide support for a multitude of different research projects.
