College is the perfect time to try new things, be curious about new ideas and explore opportunities. As you begin your academic journey, we’d like to share some advice to help you start out the semester strong.

Read CU Boulder Today

You will receive the CU Boulder Today newsletter in your email every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This newsletter is a valuable resource to help you get to know campus and stay informed.

CU Boulder Today is where you will find announcements, things to do, reminders, tips and much more. There will also be content specifically for Exploratory Studies students to guide you through your first semester. Check your email for CU Boulder Today to ensure you don’t miss out.

Put yourself out there

Stepping outside of your comfort zone can be scary. But making that effort now in college often leads to more experiences and opportunities.

Find small ways to put yourself out there this semester. Attend your instructor’s office hours to introduce yourself. Go to the Be Involved Fair this week and sign up for at least one club. Organize a study group with others in your favorite class, or attend free campus events with your roommate. All of these actions are a part of the exploration process. You never know what opportunities may come up with trying new things and making new connections!

Enjoy the journey

Did you know that 40% of first-semester students at CU Boulder enter with an undecided or exploratory major and that 45% of those who enter with a declared major change their mind? Over 900 students in your entering class have already changed their major through admissions before even arriving on campus.

Throughout your time at CU Boulder, you’ll discover new interests, passions and hobbies. This is your time to explore. You may end up on a different path than you originally planned, and that’s okay. We’re here to support you. Whether you’re still deciding on a major or thinking of switching to a different program, enjoy the journey.

Once again, welcome to CU Boulder. We’re so glad you are here and wish you all the best this semester.
