Innovative Science for the Grand Challenges in Aquatic Environmental Sciences

The 2020 Gordon Research Conference on Environmental Sciences: Water will be dedicated to innovative scientific advances to address the grand challenges of aquatic environmental sciences. Maintaining water quality and availability for humans and ecosystems is becoming a major problem for a growing globalized society with increasing demands for food and energy under the pressure of a changing climate. Innovative science that bridges across disciplines plays a critical role for a molecular-level understanding of those water-quality issues related to the exposure to an increasing number and types of contaminants and stressors, the assessment of their impacts, as well as for the design of adequate and cost-effective mitigation measures. This conference will feature a program of leading researchers whose thought-provoking work will include both the frontiers of science as well as methodological advances to address sustainable water quality under global change, chemical exposures and health outcomes, and advanced tools and technologies for the evaluation and management of water resources. The GRC ES:Water conference series offer an immersive experience for both attendees and speakers and the format is designed to enable in-depth discussion of topical research areas and maximize opportunities for networking between researchers of all career stages.
