Aug. 16, 2022: Dr. Angela Bielefeldt has been awarded two new grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a co-PI: "Research Initiation: Enhancing Engineering Students’ Innovation Self-Efficacy through Design of K-12 STEM Projects" (PI Azadeh Bolhari, Teaching Assoc. Professor in Environmental Engineering) and "ADVANCE Partnership: Strategic Partnership for Alignment of Community Engagement in STEM (SPACES)" (PI Dr. Andrea Ferro at Clarkson University, PI Dr. Shakira Hobbs at U California Irvine, PI Dr. Maya Trotz at University of South Florida).

Joan Tisdale presented 'Range of Practices of Sustainability Incorporation into First-Year General Engineering Design Course' (co-authored by Dr. Katherine Ramos and Dr. Bielefeldt) and 'Sustainability Inclusion Efforts in Three Unique First-Year Engineering Courses' (co-authored by Bielefeldt)

Dr. Bielefeldt authored 10 papers presented in the Civil Engineering, Engineering Ethics, Military and Veterans, Technological and Engineering Literacy / Philosophy of Engineering, and the Educational Research and Methods divisions. A paper she co-authored with her former doctoral student Dr. Rebecca Komarek was selected as the Best Paper from the Engineering Leadership Development Division.

Engineering Plus becomes Integrated Design Engineering

In the spring of 2022, Chancellor DiStefano approved a proposal to change the name of the Engineering Plus ("e+") program to Integrated Design Engineering. The newly named program aligns more closely with comparable engineering degrees and will be better understood by employers, giving students a stronger presence in a competitive job market.
