As an ABET accredited program, Engineering Plus students need to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Both graduates and current e+ students can sign-up for the FE exam in their MyNCEES account.
Starting with Fall 2019 graduates, the FE exam will be required of all Engineering Plus students in order to graduate.
The FE Exam is a Computer-Based Exam. NCEES administers the FE exam throughout the year at one of several approved Pearson VUE testing centers. Find the Colorado testing centers.
Register for the FE Exam at least 3-4 months ahead of time, before spaces fill up, especially if you want to take a Saturday exam.
Plan ahead! As the May and November dates are close to the end of the semester, and thus may interfere with your ability to adequately prepare, you may want to take the FE exam earlier. It is important that you register early, before spaces fill up.
Which FE Do I Take? You can take whichever FE test you prefer. For example, if your e+ emphasis is Mechanical Engineering, you can sign up for the Mechanical Engineering exam or the Other Disciplines exam.
FE Prep. There are lots of materials available online, or through the Engineering Plus front office. Find more information on preparing for the FE exam.
Note: In order to take the FE exam you must bring a physical form of valid identification. Digital and expired IDs are not accepted.
