Invention and Innovation

The purpose of this course is to provide you an introduction to business development and product innovation through a hands-on approach. Students explore the invention process, hone their engineering design skills, and explore the initial stages of entrepreneurship.  This course focuses on the business aspects of engineering design and introduces you to key aspects of product development like industry research, intellectual property, financial planning, business ethics, etc. . Student interdisciplinary teams design, create, and test a series of projects, culminating in a final commercial product exhibited at an end-of-semester design expo.
