Joel is an Ph.D. student in Environmental Studies. He received a B.S. in Science of Natural and Environmental Systems from Cornell University with minors in Education, International Studies, and Inequality Studies. His current research focuses on the interactions of hydrologic and biologic controls on the transport and cycling of nitrogen in alpine and Antarctic streams. Joel currently serves as a graduate teaching assistant for ENVS and the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Prior to arriving at CU Boulder, Joel taught middle school science and math for five years.
