Alea Richmond Akins serves as the Director of Undergraduate Education and Student Success for the Program in Environmental Design. In her current role, she provides leadership and oversight of functional areas related to undergraduate education and student progress from pre-admission to graduation. Her portfolio includes management of recruitment, strategic enrollment, student retention and student success initiatives, admissions, new student orientation, the Diverse Scholars Program, course scheduling and curriculum management, academic coaching, advising and student support services, First Year Experience, professional and career development, and support for students on academic difficulty. 

Alea holds a M.S. in Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, a B.A. in Journalism and a B.A. in Language, Literature & Cultures with an emphasis in Spanish from Colorado State University. Alea is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Manabi, Ecuador.
