Melissa Bottiglio (she/her/hers) joins the Program for Environmental Design as the Embedded Therapist for Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) and Manager of the Embedded Team.

Assistant Professor Shawhin Roudbari will guest-edit the next issue of MAS Context, collaborating with Germane Barnes, assistant professor and director of The Community, Housing & Identity Lab (CHIL).

Drawing inspiration and narrative from the design work of Ray and Charles Eames and the Powers of Ten film, students were charged with designing a cure for the Coronavirus.

This summer, students in the intro to landscape architecture studio developed their sketching skills as well as a design intervention proposal for Boulder’s Central Park.

If we’ve learned anything during these past four months, it’s that staying creative, inventive and original is more essential than ever. What’s the best way to stay creative and inventive? By seeking inspiration and learning from others.

I acknowledge that as a program there is a need for improvement to the ENVD culture, both inside and outside the classroom. It is difficult to admit that the actions and initiatives we have been taking are not always visible or communicated well, but I want to assure you that I am committed to working with you all to increase our awareness and take action against our flaws.

In a recent interview, Sara Taketatsu, a 2019 ENVD graduate, described her involvement with the American Institute for Architecture Students (AIAS), and how that has expanded into a position in the organization’s Washington D.C. headquarters for a one-year, full-time position as the West Quad Director.

ENVD is a community that we all value. It is a community that I want to see thrive. It is a community that I want every individual to feel like they belong and are valued.

This week, a final design was chosen for a networking and communications center, from Senior Instructor Jade Polizzi and Instructor Rachel Lee's intermediate architecture studio.
