Architecture

Office: ENVD 158

Betsy is a licensed architect who believes that architecture should be “rooted to its place.” In the classroom, she teaches that the built environment should respond both to the physical site and to the surrounding cultural landscape. Betsy has managed the design and construction process across an array of award-winning projects including high end residential, a children’s museum, and multiple schools.

She is currently an associate at HiWorks while teaching with the ENVD program. Betsy spent eight years with Lake|Flato Architects where she cultivated her design philosophy that great architecture springs from a deep collaboration between community, architect and nature. Betsy emphasizes a connection to the landscape, passive design strategies and craft, all critical tenets of environmental design.
