Ishmeet Kohli
MA Student

Ishmeet Kohli (she/her) is an MA Literature candidate at CU, Boulder. She has a BA (Hons) and master’s degree in English literature from Delhi University, India.

Her literary interests include studying Modern and Post-Colonial literature. As part of her undergraduate research project, she explored the cultural and linguistic decolonization of former colonies, focusing on twentieth-century Indian writing, the emergence of ethnic literature, and translation studies. Additionally, she enjoys studying the post-war shift in narrative form, structure, and themes that emerged in the early twentieth century, concentrating on the confessional mode in women’s writing.

She hopes to focus on post-colonial ethnic literature and diaspora theories during her graduate studies.

Having taught language and literature to multilingual middle schoolers for several years has added depth to her understanding of plurilingualism in second language teaching and enhanced her appreciation for diversified literary perspectives.

After moving to the United States in 2018, she worked on a couple of volunteer projects promoting sustainable creative empowerment platforms for struggling youth. In addition, she created website content for a Colorado based e-commerce and worked with a Montessori school in Downtown Denver.

Apart from work, she loves to travel, practice yoga, and hike. However, the most favorite part of her day is watching and discussing movies with her husband.
