We are looking for a highly dedicated individual with an interest in magazine content creation, management, organization and editing for an editorial internship with Jaunt Media Collective — publishers of CO YOGA + Life® Magazine, YOGA + Life® online, Spoke + Blossom and Covered Bridge. The intern will contribute to the production of the print magazines and help edit, write and produce digital content. Work can be completed remotely. Tuesday mid-afternoon Zoom meetings are required.
Position Description
The editorial internship allows individuals to participate in all areas of magazine production, with an emphasis on content management and creation. Though the position emphasizes editorial work, there will be opportunities for light writing and research as well.
Intern can work remotely, but will stay in close contact with the publisher and team.
Duties specifically include:
Writing, fact checking and editing.
Pitching story ideas and connecting with article sources.
Publishing articles to online website platforms.
Administrative tasks.
Social media content creation and updates.
Magazine distribution and events, when possible.
If qualified, graphic design and video production.
Qualifications:
Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
Ability to type 40+ wpm.
Strong Internet research skills.
Familiarity with using style guides, preferably Associated Press style.
Strong interest in LOHAS (lifestyle of health and sustainability)
Self motivated.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively.
Familiarity with Macs and MS Word.
Familiarity with WordPress and Squarespace website platforms.
Approximately 10-15 hours per week, ideally spread out over three or four days. The position lasts five months, after which time there may be an opportunity for renewal.
