OVERVIEW

Pop Culture Classroom is a Denver-based educational non-profit with a mission to inspire a love of learning, increase literacy, celebrate diversity, and build community through the tools of popular culture and the power of self-expression. The organization fulfills their mission in three main ways: 1) Local events, such as Fan Expo Denver and other PopUP events. 2) Outreach workshops in local schools, libraries, community centers focusing on comic creation, game creation, and other pop culture literacies. 3) Downloadable resources for teachers and parents, such as history-based comics, graphic novel teaching guides, curricular units, and more. 

POSITION

CU English Department Interns will assist the Pop Culture Classroom Education Department in fulfilling their mission. Interns will work directly with the PCC's Education Program Manager as well as other PCC staff members on a project-by-project basis. Interns can tailor their experience to their interests and career goals. Responsibilities might include:

  • Writing blog posts about pop culture in education
  • Writing scripts for history-based comics
  • Writing content for comic and graphic novel teaching guides
  • Assisting in planning and execution of events and activities
  • Other duties as assigned
