Learning Design Group Internship

Overview

The Learning Design Group (LDG) team, a department of the Division of Continuing Education strives to inspire excellence and innovation in teaching and learning by empowering instructors and faculty through ongoing support, training and collaboration opportunities. We focus on developing high quality and aligned digital learning content using engaging, inclusive and accessible practices.

 

We invite new and innovative approaches to teaching and learning and we leverage our backgrounds in learning and technology to assist faculty blend their teaching philosophy into a rich learning experience for their students.

 

The LDG team provides faculty with:

  • Step-by-step instructions, access to supporting resources and assistance to help design online, remote and hybrid courses;

  • Personal, hands-on consultations for designing and teaching courses using Canvas and other tools; and

  • Training and tutorials on using Canvas’s features/tools effectively.

Position

One internship for 3 credit hours

Student Resources Developer 

This individual will be responsible for assisting in the analysis of the current state of our resources and the creation of a variety of resources including the following:

  • User-Experience research on current trends in higher education and analysis of CU Boulder student desires.

  • Provide gap-analysis for the currently offered resources provided by the LDG team to better understand where additional resources should be developed.  

  • Creation of multimedia resources to support online students including but are not limited to, getting started guides, video tutorials, brochures, and other assets to be co-created in partnership with the Student Resources Developer.

  • Other tasks to be assigned as needed. 

Qualifications

The LDG is looking for interns who are passionate about leveraging their knowledge and experience to address issues that may create barriers to learning. Candidates should be self-motivated, willing to ask for help and direction when unsure of the next step, and interested in learning about content creation, Instructional Design, course design, accessibility best practices and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

The LDG intern will gain experience in day-to-day support of academic technology solutions (example: Canvas, audio/video creation techniques, and online collaboration tools), pedagogical best practice to help learners master concepts (example: adult-learning theory, human centered design, student engagement, and instructor presence), and they will have the opportunity to build personal skills in a low stakes environment with staff who believe in an iterative approach to learning.
