With the recent creation of the Office of Alumni Engagement, the College of Engineering and Applied Science is kicking off one of its major initiatives at the end of June with the launch of an alumni network in the San Francisco Bay area.
Nearly 2,000 CU Engineering alumni live in the Bay Area, which represents the largest concentration of alumni outside Colorado. The college plans to establish formal regional CU Engineering alumni networks in five cities over the next year, starting with San Francisco and followed by Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston and the Denver Metro area. Each of these hubs will provide opportunities for engineering alumni to further expand their personal and professional networks among other alumni who live in the area.
To help alumni build connections, the college’s Office of Alumni Engagement will organize at least two events annually in each region. These events will take many different forms and could include talks from CU Engineering faculty on their life-changing research, talks from accomplished alumni experts from the region, CU Buffs football pre-game gatherings, and updates on CU Engineering from college leadership, to name a few. All of these events will allow alumni to make individual connections that grow and strengthen their own network.
The Office of Alumni Engagement is looking for alumni in each of these five regions (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston and Denver Metro) who are interested in serving as a Regional Network Ambassador. Alumni who serve in this capacity will provide feedback and ideas for future engagement efforts in each region, assist with the promotion of engagement activities, and serve as a point person for fellow alumni and students who have questions or want to become more involved.
