Gretchen’s career in the University of Colorado Boulder started 20 years ago at the Wardenburg Health Center as the Faculty Staff Clinic Accounting Technician responsible for appointment scheduling, faculty and staff insurance policies and referrals, as well as overseeing Workers Compensation plans. As our scholarship coordinator, Gretchen is responsible for determining eligibility of more than 3,500 scholarship applicants yearly. She manages more than $32 million in scholarship funds, matching more than 2,000 students individually to scholarship donor criteria and enjoys seeing students and donors get to know one another. In her spare time, Gretchen loves to garden and play the piano.

  • Oversees the college’s scholarship application, student eligibility and award management process.
  • Matches student applications to fund agreements and donor requirements.
  • Works with the Financial Aid Office to determine if over-award exists, and student NCAA standing.
  • Presents recommendations for scholarship changes to update awarding procedures and award levels.
  • Organizes and oversees Engineering Open House and Scholarship Banquet, ensuring that all awardees and donors are connected.
