Biography

Alex graduated with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University in 2018, and earened his ME in Engineering Management from CU Boulder in 2020. Alex started working for the Department of Defense, Air Force, as a civilian, and is currently a Mechanical Engineer with the DOD.

What made you decide to pursue a degree or certificate in Engineering Management?
I like working in the engineering field and saw the value of having both a technical and business background in it.

Why did you choose the Engineering Management Program at CU Boulder?
I attended CU Boulder because it was one of the only universities in the country that offered classes in person. I saw that as a real value-added experience.

How did the program help you in your career?
It makes me more competitive for managerial positions as well as providing a pay raise in higher education.

What was your favorite graduate EMEN class/professor? Why?
Dr. Wayne Kirschling, his industry experience and stories brought classroom topics to life with the harsh realities surrounding balancing running successful companies and taking care of the employees.

What advice would you give a new student in the program?
Find ways to apply waht you've learned directly to your current employer or situation and how you can constantly apply what you are learning in a changing environment.

How would you summarize your experience with the program? 
Good experience that broadened my technical knowledge of the engineering field.
