The graduate Engineering Management Program consists of a professional master’s degree and certificates that are designed for working professionals taking classes part-time, however, students may also attend full-time. Although work experience is not required, we do find it is beneficial for our program. Due to the nature of the Engineering Management Program, students do not qualify for research or teaching assistantships, however, hourly positions are allowed. We do not provide support in finding internships or job placement, but Career Services can provide assistance in these areas.
An undergraduate degree in engineering, science, or a technical field (including areas such as physics, applied mathematics, and computer science). If you do not have an undergraduate degree in engineering or a technical field, then you may be admitted to the degree based on work experience or other relevant career goals.
Cumulative GPA of a 3.0 (from all undergrad transcripts) from a regionally accredited institution. If your undergrad GPA is below a 3.0, graduate coursework may satisfy this requirement. If your GPA is below 3.0, then GRE scores must be provided for provisional admission or you can consider the option of starting as a non-degree seeking student. Anyone with a GPA below 2.75 should contact the Engineering Management Program before applying. Applicants who submit GRE scores are required to score in the median to high range (about mid 150 range in each section or higher). Statistics relating to test scores are located at www.gre.org. Our program does not accept the GMAT in lieu of the GRE.
The majority of students have over two years of work experience and bring a wealth of practical knowledge, insight and expertise to the classroom, enriching the learning experience for all. Classes benefit from students with a diverse set of experiences and a common desire to learn and excel in their careers. However, no professional work experience is required to apply.
You will receive an email regarding your admission decision within 4-6 weeks of the above application deadlines.
Application Fee – $60 for domestic and $80 for international applicants
Upload your statement of purpose to your online application. Also referred to as the personal statement or cover letter on the application. The goal of the statement of purpose is to express to the review committee your interest in the program and to address anything about your background that may not be mentioned elsewhere in the application. Please limit this to one page.
The online application will require you to add the name, title and email for each of your recommenders. They will be sent a link to complete your recommendation online. Please do not upload or send letters of recommendation.
Three letters of recommendation are required from previous or current professors or from a past supervisor, current supervisor or a person in a managerial role within the company. Letters should not be written from family, friends or colleagues.
For review and decision purposes you are required to upload an unofficial copy of your transcript(s) in the online application. We require one copy of the scanned transcript from each undergraduate and graduate institution that you attended. This includes community colleges, summer sessions, and extension programs. While credits from one institution may appear on the transcript of a second institution, unofficial transcripts must be submitted from each institution, regardless of the length of attendance, and whether or not courses were completed. Failure to list and submit transcripts from all institutions previously attended is considered to be a violation of academic ethics and may result in the cancelation of your admission or dismissal from the university. ONLY after you are recommended for admission will you need to provide official transcripts. Instructions for Uploading Unofficial Transcripts to Your Application.
