Several databases exist of core research facilties that are available for use by universities, companies, and government organizations. The purpose of these databases is to more easily find and access scientific resources in your area, to prevent the duplication of high-cost instrumentation among institutions in close regional proximity, and to ensure core facilities are being utilized to their full potential. Sometimes we wonder if a particular instrument is available to us on our own campus, not thinking further afield to what neighboring institutions could offer. Utilize these databases to find scientific resources in your area.
