With two decades of experience in teaching and training, Dr. Shaw L. Ketels is the Education, Assessment, and Innovation Program manager in ECEE. Dr. Ketels is an expert in curricular theory, educational innovation, assessment, curriculum development, face-to-face and remote educational technologies, and teaching. Dr. Ketels is also an expert in basic and applied cognitive psychology and education research. He has taught a broad range of specific subject matter, in K-12, university, and andragogical contexts, both formal and informal, in classes ranging in size from 1-400. In various roles he established the STEM curriculum in an individualized, student-centered, private high school, introduced active, student-centered learning and educational technologies into large general psychology courses, and has been an innovator in the assessment of educational outcomes across numerous contexts, both public and private. Shaw won an ASSETT Development Award (2015), and two Chancellor’s Awards For Excellence in STEM education (2011 & 2017), for the development and implementation of innovative educational technologies and pedagogical approaches at the university level. Shaw also won the ASSETT Teaching With Technology Award (2015), nominated by his students for his usage of technology in the classroom.
