Be connected.

Be involved.

We believe in helping one another, and we find fulfillment from seeing our actions create a better community locally, nationally and globally. How we do this takes many forms:

  • Serving on Student Government or United Government of Graduate Students
  • Having a civic engagement internship
  • Joining a student organization
  • Finding community through Veteran and Military Affairs
  • Helping out through the Volunteer Resource Center

Be curious.

Curiosity is the catalyst of invention. As a Tier 1 research university, we exist to ponder, to question, to take concepts and apply them to hands-on research through conversation and fearless experimentation. We encourage everyone at CU Boulder to be curious and get involved with research, because it is in those moments of questioning that ideas are born.

Diverse group of students

Be authentic.

Our university values individual expression, and our work, research and activities are centered around connecting with people and developing a global perspective. Explore some of the ways we engage to broaden our perspective:

  • Conference on World Affairs
  • Diversity & Inclusion Summit
  • Center for Inclusion and Social Change
  • Education Abroad
  • First-Year International Seminars
  • Sustainability and Eco-Social Justice

Be well.

College is all about learning to balance—balancing work and leisure, class time and study time, going out and staying in. We encourage all students to dedicate their time to both their education and their personal lives, because we believe that establishing a balanced routine in college can help build healthy practices for the rest of your life. Find ways to stay connected to Health and Wellness Services through the Rec Center, the Outdoor Program, Peer Wellness Coaching and more.

Be innovative.

We welcome innovation, and students and faculty are always ready to test new concepts. At CU Boulder, we support this culture by encouraging students who are interested in cultivating original ideas to get involved in Catalyze CU or New Venture Challenge and visit startup spaces like the Idea Forge and the Innovation Station at Williams Village Center.
