At CU Boulder, Nathan is researching the removal of disinfection-by-products (DBPs) using granular activated carbon. As part of the DeRISK Center, Nathan hopes that his research will help reduce exposure of small-system users to DBPs. Prior to his time here, Nathan earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis. Between undergraduate and graduate school, Nathan worked at the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, where he was part of a team that performed a nitrification rate test to investigate the inhibition of nitrifying bacteria by a cyanide containing recycle stream.
