  • Activity Lead; Project 2: Application of Photochemical Processes for the Design and Implementation of Sustainable Treatment for Small Systems, Activity 3: Emerging UV-LEDs for Improved Disinfection Efficiency

The activities of Project 2 will be integrated and coordinated by Dr. Karl Linden, Croft Professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. Karl has 15 years of experience conducting research and directing multidisciplinary research teams on projects valued over $40M.  He will also direct the research involved with Project 2, Activity 3, which investigates emerging UV-LED technology for improved disinfection efficiency. Karl is the 2013-2015 President of the International UV Association and has extensive expertise in UV disinfection and microbial analyses. He has led the recent Water Research Foundation studies on multi-wavelength enhancement of disinfection and investigated fundamentals of virus inactivation in support of small system virus disinfection compliance. In 2013 he received the Pioneer Award in Disinfection and Public Health from the Water Environment Federation.
