Deborah Méndez Wilson is a member of the executive communications team in Strategic Relations and Communications, the campus's central communications office, and provides strategic direction and editorial guidance on campuswide initiatives led by the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Méndez Wilson has worked in higher education communications for 15 years, including tenures at CU Boulder, the CU Anschutz Medical Campus and the Office of the President.
Her experience as a bilingual spokesperson and media relations professional includes stints in state government, health care and public transportation. Before transitioning into PR, she was a journalist with the Associated Press, the world's largest and oldest news organization, and her reporting appeared in The Denver Post, the Rocky Mountain News and other newspapers in Colorado and around the globe. She also reported for Reuters, USA Today, Wireless Week, Network World, Colorado Outdoors and other news outlets in the United States and South America, where she spent a decade teaching English and working as a bilingual reporter. She holds dual bachelor's degrees in journalism and political science from CU Boulder.
