Kim Patel has worked for VICE, Huffington Post, NBC News, Yahoo!, CNBC and MSNBC, a career that has allowed her to understand in depth that the world is not black and white and, at the end of the day, business boils down to humans and human decisions.

She has focused on her passion as a community advocate for women and people of color in business. She supports future leaders and game-changers in realizing their own American dreams by offering expertise in strategy, finance, operations and venture capital as a startup advisor and investor, currently at AlleyCorp. Patel built her business chops as an investment banker at J.P. Morgan and served as a venture capital scout for Harlem Capital Partners.

She was the youngest corporate director at VICE and the youngest person in the boardroom throughout her career. As a first-generation American-Indian woman who made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for media and called an “Indian-American Trailblazer” for her work within the Asian-American community in media, she says, “I understand the importance of utilizing my role to enable others to succeed.”

Outside of work she serves on the board of Women in Innovation, an organization committed to improving the networking and success of women in tech and innovation across industries, and Brave House, a non-profit providing legal and community benefits to young immigrant women. An avid runner, amateur cook and photographer, she received a BA in economics, history and politics from New York University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
