Jacob Segil is a Senior Instructor for the Engineering Plus and Mechanical Engineering degree programs as well as the Managing Director of the Center for Translational Research within the Research and Innovation Office at CU Boulder.  He is a Research Healthcare Scientist in the Rehabilitation Research and Development service in the Department of Veterans Affairs.   Dr. Segil has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a Bioengineering focus and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Segil researches neural interfaces, prosthetic devices, and artificial sensory feedback systems. He holds 6 patents, has founded three companies, and consults with two additional companies. He seeks out translational technology to benefit people with amputation in order to replace what was lost.
