 Dr. Elizabeth Burakowski is a research assistant professor at the University of New Hampshire. She earned her BA in geology from Wellesley College, her master’s in earth science from the University of New Hampshire and Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire. Burakowski lived in Boulder from 2014-2016 while working at the National Center for Atmospheric Science as a postdoctoral researcher. 

She uses climate models, snow measurements and satellites to understand how winter is changing in a warming climate and studies the impacts on ecosystems and society. She serves as a Science Alliance Member for Protect Our Winters, a Boulder-based non-profit advocating for action in the outdoor recreation community. She also serves on the American Alpine Institute's Climate Task Force.
