Technology Business Support Services

Business services apply from the early R&D stage of technology business development through expansion of an existing company.  Professional personnel provide direction, research information, written analyses and summaries, business feasibility studies, or a complete written market assessment or business plan.

We specialize in market research, including research for new products and new technologies.  We use secondary and primary research techniques to assess market size, refine market strategy, up-date a market plan, assess customer needs, compare competing products, etc.

Free Business Plan Review

CEO’s and entrepreneurs that are positioning their Colorado technology company for financing may request a business plan review at no charge.  The company submits two print copies of the business plan and receives a critique from our panel of advisors and guidance from a CU-BAC staff person on how to upgrade their plan to best meet investor or lender expectations.  All CU-BAC personnel and advisors operate under a confidentiality agreement.

Reports, Studies and Special Projects

CU-BAC conducts sponsored research and grant-funded projects that promote knowledge, target services, and develop markets for Colorado’s technology industries.  Services include industry directories, needs assessments, industry profiles, and economic impact studies.  We design a research strategy using database research, surveys, focus groups, and key contact interviews to meet the project objective.

Grant funding supports short-term programs that create market opportunities for technology companies, and subsidize costs of services for firms that meet specific eligibility requirements.  See “Project Reports” section for examples of past projects and “What’s New” for current activities.

Service Charges

Funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration allows CU-BAC to provide limited services without charge and additional professional services at low cost.  Services are provided on a cost-recovery basis using (a) a low hourly rate plus direct costs, or (b) a flat fee bid to complete a specific project and deliverable.  Hourly rates are $75/hour for professional staff time and $30/hour for student time.
