Ryan Edgington graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1999 with a BA in history. He went on to complete a BA (UNM) and PhD (Temple) in history and an MA in public administration (UNM). Before coming to the University of Colorado, Ryan was a senior academic advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences at UNM, where he advised psychology majors and designed first-year research and student development courses. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Ryan was a visiting faculty member in history and environmental studies at several colleges including Macalester College and Haverford College. He remains an active historian writing about the American West and the environmental history of North America. Ryan is currently working on a book that explores the relationships between nuclear weapons and the birth of environmental anxiety in America. In a prior life, he was a pretty good skateboarder and musician. He continues to play his guitar for his son, Rustin, his partner, Jessie, and his two step-daughters, Phoebie and Sadie.
