Geena Kim
Post-Baccalaureate Assistant Teaching Professor

Geena received her Ph.D. in physics from UC Berkeley. She was a co-founder and CTO of a sensor startup and worked as a machine learning researcher and technical advisor in an IoT startup in Bay Area. Geena also developed and taught deep learning and machine learning at Regis University before joining the CU Boulder. At CU, she teaches data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning courses for PostBACC and on-campus, and has developed a Coursera Specialization on Machine Learning for Master of Science in Data Science program at CU. Geena’s research interests include deep learning, computer vision, medical image analysis and artificial intelligence.

Why do you teach online for the Post-Bacc program?

I enjoy the flexibility of online learning and I’ve been enjoying online teaching from my prior experience. I also made a career transition from a fundamental science (physics) to machine learning and computer science. I would like to help others being successful at their career pivoting.

What do you like to do outside of CU?

I like the outdoors and adventures. In my free time I enjoy hiking, mountain biking and motorcycling.
