Vanessa first joined CAPS in 2017 as a doctoral psychology intern, and is excited to remain at CU Boulder for her postdoctoral fellowship in psychology in the Counselor-in-Residence track. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including university counseling centers, a VA hospital and sexual trauma treatment center. She has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Trauma Focused CBT and CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I), motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based approaches (DBT and ACT), psychodynamic psychotherapy and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT).
She takes an integrative, strengths-based approach to treatment that emphasizes the collaborative nature of the client/therapist relationship.
