Health Psychology Doctoral Intern

Débora is a doctoral intern at CAPS, currently in her last year working towards her PhD in Counseling Psychology. She is passionate about providing a safe space for her clients through empathy and unconditional positive regard, where clients can grow in their awareness of themselves and their needs.

Débora was born and raised in Brazil, and attended high school and college in Austin, Texas. She received her BA degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in December of 2017, and started at Texas A&M shortly after, where she received her M.Ed in Educational Psychology in 2019.

Before coming to CAPS, Débora has had experience working in community clinics, telehealth clinics, private practice, and university counseling center settings, with a wide variety of demographics and presenting concerns.

In her clinical work Débora emphasizes the therapeutic working alliance in an effort to help clients create a healthy sense of self-worth and emotional regulation, through the development of a confidence in their identity and values, and self-compassion.
