September’s Monthly Brown Bag Series will feature a presentation by Ceal Barry (Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations) and Jillian Keegan (Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance) on Compliance in Athletics.
CU’s Department of Athletics has developed a set of core values centered around ethics and placed a priority on NCAA compliance by including it in their strategic plan. The compliance staff works first and foremost to educate the CU community, university staff, athletic department staff and student-athletes on the NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations. Along with education, monitoring and enforcement are critical components of compliance for the department. Topic areas in the presentation will include an overview of departmental values, highlights of the compliance program, equity aspects of Title IX and information on what Athletics does to ensure academic benchmarks are achieved while ensuring well-being for their student-athletes. Attendees of this presentation will gain a greater understanding and knowledge of the “how” that goes into ensuring the CU Athletics program remains one of high ethical and compliance standards.
Following the presentation, ample time will be provided for audience Q&A.
