Dec. 10, 2020
To our degree candidates:
We are reaching out today as you may be a spring 2021 degree candidate. Due to the evolving and rapidly changing pandemic and its impact on the health and safety of our community, we are saddened to share that the spring 2021 CU Boulder commencement ceremony will take place via livestream instead of in person.
From all public health indications, large gatherings such as commencement will not be feasible by early May. We are making the best decisions we can with the information we have. We are also making every effort we can to provide clarity regarding expectations for the spring. We do not take this change lightly and appreciate your understanding as we navigate this evolving environment.
“While we are extremely saddened to move commencement online, the safety of our students, families and community are paramount,” said CU Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano.
We will livestream the commencement ceremony on May 6, 2021. Schools, colleges and departments will also be celebrating the class of 2021 online. Watch for further details in the spring and share your ideas, comments and questions here.
We understand that commencement is a significant milestone, and we want to honor you while still keeping our community safe. We remain committed to looking at in-person alternatives to celebrate your accomplishments when public health conditions permit.
We look forward to celebrating with you in person as soon as we are able.
