Twins Emerson and Atticus Walsh were born to parents Kerri and Matthew Walsh (Film’92) last spring. Matthew writes that the babies received their first CU gear, matching Buff wool hats, when they were three months old. The family is a Pac-12 family as Kerri graduated from the University of Southern California. They live in Glendale, Calif.

Last winter Louisa Stark (PhDEPOBio’92) received the 2010 Governor’s Medal for Science and Technology from Utah’s governor Gary Herbert. The award recognized her leadership as director of the Genetic Science Learning Center at the University of Utah.

Navigation Group Wealth Management and Planning co-founder Erik Davis (Fin’92) is proud to have his firm named by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the “Top Wealth Advisors of the Greater Bay Area.” Erik and his wife also welcomed their first child, Dresden Robert Davis, on Sept. 20, 2011. While his wife attended the University of Oregon, he hopes to raise his son as a proud “Duckalo.” The family lives in San Francisco.

As a major in the Army Reserve George Brauchler Jr. (Econ, PolSci’92, Law’95) was originally commissioned after finishing CU’s ROTC program. He writes he is helping wrap up the war in Iraq and was deployed as the chief of military justice for U.S. Division-North, which covers 84,000 square miles of Iraq. He lives in Littleton, Colo., with his wife and four children.

Lawyer Erika Anderson (Psych’92) is 2012 vice president of the Board Bar of Commissioners, the governing board of the State Bar in Albuquerque. She is a partner at Park & Anderson, specializing in civil litigation involving liability, civil rights, personal injury and employment litigation. She previously worked as a counselor for adolescents and their families.

Forensic scientist Peter Stout (EPOBio’92, PhD’99) has been appointed to serve a four-year term on the North Carolina Forensic Science Advisory Board. The board advises the lab director and staff at the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory on ways they can strengthen the state forensic laboratory system to solve crimes and provide improved service to the criminal justice system. Peter has 15 years of experience in forensic urine drug testing, postmortem toxicology and human performance testing laboratories.

Her inventory comes from a few regions in the country, including Oaxaca and Chiapas. She lives in Louisville with her family.

Journalist and author Mindy Reaves Sink (Jour’92) has written three books that celebrate Colorado:Walking Denver (Wilderness Press), a collection of 30 original urban walking tours in the city; Moon Handbooks Guide to Denver (Avalon Travel), a complete guide to the Mile High City; and Colorado Organic (Jennifer Olson Photography), a cookbook that celebrates local chefs and farmers. Professor Phillip DeLeon (MElEngr’92, PhD’95) received the John and Tome Nakayama endowed Professorship for Teaching Excellence award in the engineering college at New Mexico State University. Phillip has been a professor there since 1996 and teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in signal processing, embedded systems and machine learning. He lives in Las Cruces, N.M.

Here Lies Hugh Glass, a novel by Jon Coleman (Hist’92, MA’97), is “a vigorously written meditation on 19th-century America’s encounter with the wilderness,” according to The Wall Street Journal. Jon is an American history professor at the University of Notre Dame. He also wrote Vicious: Wolves and Men in America, which won the W. Turrentine Jackson Prize and the John H. Dunning Prize. Jon lives in South Bend, Ind.

Even though Kristen Balsley Loos (IntlBus’92) lives in Carson City, Nev., she visits Boulder where her family still lives. No surprise then that Kristen brought a branch of her Carson City-based, women-only fitness franchise Kaia FIT to Boulder last year and opened another in Lafayette, Colo.

Since Joel Parker (MAstro’89, PhD’92) joined the Southwest Research Institute in 1996, he has consistently climbed the career ladder. Today, Joel, who lives in Boulder, serves as director of Boulder operations in the Planetary Science Directorate of the institute’s space studies department.

One would think that three kids and a horse training business might be enough to keep Jill Kunz Pelzel (PerMgmt’92) busy. “On the side” she serves as vice president of the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association and coaches CU’s nationally ranked equestrian team. In the aftermath of last year’s devastating floods, Jill also ran a food and supply drive for pets and livestock affected by the flood. She lives in Fort Lupton, Colo.

She is a civil litigation attorney at French & Associates, chair of the American Bar Association Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section trial techniques committee, as well as former president of the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association and the state’s first Judicial District.

The CU-Boulder International Film Series, run by Pablo Kjolseth (Hum’92), went digital this fall. Pablo says he waited as long as he could before using digitized film but he had to keep up with the rapidly evolving industry. The series has not abandoned 35mm films however.
