One would think that three kids and a horse training business might be enough to keep Jill Kunz Pelzel (PerMgmt’92) busy. “On the side” she serves as vice president of the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association and coaches CU’s nationally ranked equestrian team. In the aftermath of last year’s devastating floods, Jill also ran a food and supply drive for pets and livestock affected by the flood. She lives in Fort Lupton, Colo.

“The Boettcher Foundation tremendously helped me and my family when it awarded me the Boettcher Scholarship and paid for my college education,” says Kenzo Kawanabe (PolSci’94) of Denver. In February the foundation, which works to assist, encourage and promote a better quality of life for Coloradans, named Kenzo to its board of trustees.

Burton is a former StarWars.com senior editor and lead writer for The Official Star Wars Blog. For three years, Wired magazine featured her on its list of “100 Geeks You Should be Following on Twitter.” She also worked for Disney Interactive and NBC Universal. Bonnie lives in San Francisco. Call that an exciting trip back to Colorado! Toni Momberger (Ling’96) wanted to guest teach a CU journalism class on the morning of Sept. 12, 2013, and visit her son who is a student at CU-Boulder. However, the floods hit town that week. Toni, editor of Redlands Daily Facts in Redlands, Calif., where she lives, went to Denver in the afternoon as planned. At a ceremony at The Denver Post, she was named Journalist of the Year for Small Dailies.

There aren’t too many chances to attend the annual meeting of the Tokyo chapter of the CU-Boulder Alumni Association. But Danielle Rocheleau Salaz (Jap’96, MA’00) made it happen last June. The assistant director of the CU Center for Asian Studies traveled to the Japanese capital and Kyoto as part of a goodwill delegation spearheaded by Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock to celebrate the inauguration of United’s direct flight service between Denver and Tokyo. Danielle lives in Westminster, Colo.

Prior Ryan spent his 17-year-long career as a private equity investor. Ahlburg promoted eight members of his faculty to full professor in February. Mark Lewis (MAstro’98, MCompSci’00, PhDAstro’01) was one of them. Months have passed since the Seattle Seahawks left the Denver Broncos shattered after Super Bowl XLVIII. But let’s be honest. That loss still stings for Alan Jackson (Jour’00), the creative services director and executive producer of Denver Broncos football coverage at Clear Channel Media and Entertainment. Alan produced the radio broadcast for Newsradio 850 KOA and the Broncos Radio Network in MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. “It was obviously a horribly disappointing game, but it was still an incredible experience!” Alan wrote just a few of hours after the game. He lives in Centennial, Colo.

Seana Lowe Steffen (PhDSoc’02) is director of the Restorative Leadership Institute, which offers strategic consulting and capacity building to clients from California to Senegal. Last November the nonprofit organization B Lab honored Seana’s and RLI’s work as “Best for Communities.” Seana is a former member of the CU-Boulder faculty and founding director of the CU INVST Community Studies program, which develops students into engaged citizens and leaders who work for the benefit of humanity and the environment. She lives in Longmont, Colo.

Since then Alicia has grown the enterprise about 50 percent each year. She and her husband Brad and their son Jake split their time living in Florida and Lakewood, Colo.
