Seung Soo Kim is a post-doctoral researcher for the Center for Media, Religion and Culture for the 2016-17 academic year. Kim received his PhD in Media Studies in 2016 from the College of Media, Communication, and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder. His dissertation Imagining Religion and Modernity in Post-Colonial Korea: Neo-Liberal Brand Culture and Digital Space explores how new digital media, neo-liberal brand culture and the post-colonial imaginary of the linear and progressive historical time, newly shape the current social imaginaries of Korean Protestantism and Buddhism. His research interest centers on religion and media as practice of mediation of (Social) Imaginaries, digital religion, mediation and materiality, the construction and negotiation of religious subject in post-colonial social worlds and neo-liberal brand culture and authenticity.
