Monica Emerich is a graduate of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and was the first Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Center for Media, Religion and Culture. Her research focuses on the Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) Industries and their media, with particular interest in how these media create and maintain rhetoric that links spirituality with issues of social and environmental sustainability. Her book The Gospel of Sustainability: Media, Market and LOHAS (Univ. of Illinois Press, 2011) was the first academic book on the topic. She is the co-editor of Practical Spiritualities (with Curtis Coats; Bloomsbury, 2015) and of Media, Spiritualities, and Social Change (with Stewart Hoover; Continuum/Bloomsbury, 2011).
