Joanna Piacenza is the Editor and Communications Manager at PRRI, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization conducting research at the intersection of religion and politics. Piacenza completed her MA in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. She was a Graduate Research Assistant for the Center for Asian Studies. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, Piacenza spent a year teaching English at a public school in Bangkok. Experiences in the technological hub of Thailand helped develop her interests in digital Buddhism. Piacenza is broadly interested in Western perceptions of Buddhism, Buddhism online, religious smartphone apps, virtual meditation, religion and digital gaming and religious authority.
