Fazlul Rahman is currently a Ph.D Candidate at Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies, Gadjah Mada University (ICRS-UGM), Jogjakarta Indonesia. His dissertation will examine the negotiation between religious authority and media, particularly on how the authority of religion and the Kyais in Indonesia is shaped and changed by media. To develop his dissertation research, with the support fund from The Henry Luce Foundation, he was visiting The Center for Media, Religion, and Culture, UC Boulder in Jan-May 2015.
Fazlul Rahman holds “Lc” in Da’wah and Islamic Civilization from Al-Azhar University, Cairo Egypt and Master degree in Islamic Studies from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Jakarta Indonesia. He wrote his master thesis on ‘The Death of the Dai: Autonomization of Religious Messages in Cyberspace.”
