Sarah Hornaday is the fourth generation of Hornaday to have a journalism career. She began her professional journalism career covering high school athletics in 1991 as a freelance reporter for the Austin American-Statesman

Hornaday’s newspaper journalism career included stops at The Brazosport Facts, Odessa American, Associated Press, Dallas Morning News and Houston Chronicle. She’s won awards including a regional and national Associated Press Sports Editor’s enterprise reporting award, Texas High School Coaches Association Putt Powell Sportswriter of the Year award and Texas Girls Coaches Association sportswriter of the year award. 

She quit writing full-time while at the Houston Chronicle and became the Chronicle’s high school sports editor. Hornaday left the Chronicle in 2006 to concentrate on the growth of Grace Media, LLC and the creation of
