Sara Cottle earned her BA in Journalism at West Virginia University in 2014, majoring in strategic communications and minoring in sociology. During undergrad Sara spent a large amount of her time being involved in college radio at the school’s station, WWVU-FM, acting as a volunteer disc jockey and Promotions Director. The station was nominated for multiple awards during her time there and went on to win the College Music Journal Award for ‘Best College Station’ in 2015.
After graduation, Sara spent a year abroad in Europe doing freelance graphic design work and travel writing. She’s spent the last 3 years working as an Inbound Marketing Specialist at a start-up digital marketing agency focusing on clients in the IT security, code and zoning and hospitality industries.
With a knack for marketing and communication, an appreciation of journalistic values and a love for the environment and science, Sara is now pursuing a master’s degree in Journalism with a focus in Environmental Journalism. She currently works in the Center for Environmental Journalism and with the University of Colorado Environmental Center. She enjoys hiking, scuba diving, making music mixes, exploring cultures through traveling, painting and design.
