Growing up on a lake in Phillips, Wisconsin, Elise Ertl has always had a passion for aquatics and the environment. In college, she realized that it had become equally as important to her to not just learn about the environment but to share that knowledge with others as well. This led her to earn her BA in aquatic biology and writing at the University of Wisconsin – Superior in 2021. She worked for her school's writing center and for Wisconsin Sea Grant writing articles and editing podcasts. She was also involved in UW-Superior’s collegiate volleyball team, sustainability club and newspaper.
Elise is now pursuing a master’s degree in environmental journalism. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, going to comedy shows, playing piano and guitar and when possible, snorkeling and scuba diving.
