Shiva Darian

Shiva Darian is an MS student in information science interested in communication practices that potentially influence the world around us. Her current research focuses on how political advocacy organizations use data when addressing the public. She is advised by Dr. Amy Voida and is a member of the Philanthropic Informatics Research Lab (PIRL). 

Shiva has dual BAs in philosophy and international politics from Penn State University, and has spent time exploring the nonprofit sector working as a union organizer, think tank research associate, and a refugee caseworker. 

Shiva's also passionate about data ethics, logic and rhetoric within social movements, and exploring new places. Tell your pets she says hi!
