Brianna Dym is a 2nd year Information Science PhD Student researching marginalized populations online and the different ways marginalized groups seek to empower themselves through technology. She has a background in English and sociolinguistics, with a masters degree from the University of Alaska. She got her start in researching online communities and their digital literacy practices. She is currently researching online LGBTQIA communities within fandom sites like Tumblr and Archive of Our Own. She is also investigating privacy and safety norms among marginalized identities online.
