Critical Media Practices

Laurids Andersen Sonne is a Danish interdisciplinary artist. His work spans 16mm film, video, installation, sculpture, performance, and socially engaged art projects. Laurids sees art as a catalyst for reflection on being: a way to explore, entwine, and unfold urgent topics.

Before joining Critical Media Practices, Laurids was a member of the four-person art collective Parfyme. Parfyme’s work has shown in numerous international venues, including Manifesta 8, The Dakar Biennial, Sequences Real-Time Festival, Nikolaj Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center and Seoul National University Museum of Art. Laurids’ moving image work has screened at festivals around the world, including San Francisco IFF, Montreal Underground FF, ICDOCS, Florida Experimental Film/Video Festival, Antimatter, Process FF, and Fracto Experimental Film Encounter.

Laurids holds an MFA in experimental and documentary arts from Duke University and a BA in social anthropology from Lund University.
