Kate Johnson
MA Student
Teaching of Latin

Kate has a B.A. in Classics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and her undergraduate thesis was entitled "Art Imitates Art: How Augustus uses the Ara Pacis and the Res Gestae to Characterize Himself". She presented this thesis at Virtual CAMWS 2020. Kate is currently on the Teaching Track and hopes to teach high school level Latin after the completion of this program. Her research interests began with Augustan era propaganda, art, and literature, but have recently expanded into Neronian age Latin as her teaching project (a requirement for her MA track) is a curriculum supplement based on Lucan's De Bello Civili and Vergil's Aeneid. She was also last year's winner of the 2020 Joy King and Barbara Hill Award for MA students specializing in the Teaching of Latin.
