CINE 3990: Film Practicum
DEADLINE FOR FALL 2023 APPLICATIONS IS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1.
General Information
The Cinema Studies and Moving Image Arts practicum is an academic requirement for all students in the program. This is an important opportunity to gain valuable experience as vital crew on productions or to glean knowledge from industry professionals, and it is a valuable component of your film and media education.
Preference is given to CINE BFA and BA Production Major juniors and seniors. All practicums are pass/fail. Students are allowed a maximum of 3 practicum credits towards their degree.
- BA Production students are required to complete 1 practicum credit
- BFA students are required to complete 3 practicum credits

Practicum applications will be processed weekly. Check your schedule to see if the practicum appears. If not, follow up by emailing cinemastudies@colorado.edu, subject heading: Practicum Follow Up.
Options
Practicum students can receive credit for EITHER participating in the pre-production, production, post-production of a film project OR by attending a professional development forum.
- Film project director must be a student in CINE 3400, CINE 4500 or equivalent or a Cinema Studies graduate student or faculty member.
- Professional development forum for Fall 2023 was held on Friday, October 27 from 2:30-5pm in Atlas 1B29.
Restrictions
- University rules do not allow practicum credit for internship experiences, work-study or hourly pay work done in departments, or for work also compensated by salary.
- If there are any holds associated with you student ID (related to outstanding payments, etc.), we will be unable to enroll you into any practicum credits. Please ensure that your accounts are clear before you submit the application(s).
