My sincere thanks
Dec. 19, 2024
Dear staff and faculty,
As I conclude my first six months as chancellor, I wanted to take a moment to express my deep gratitude and appreciation for all you do. Joining this community has confirmed and often exceeded the expectations I had about CU Boulder before I started this role.
It has been an incredible first semester! I have enjoyed visiting our academic units and several of our institutes and centers and learning about the remarkable people, programs and traditions that make CU Boulder truly special. Through your teaching, research and service, you model dedication, ingenuity, leadership and empathy — qualities that our university and our society so desperately need.
Many of you have gone out of your way to welcome me, and I deeply appreciate the time and effort you have dedicated to making this transition meaningful.
I know the spring semester will bring more change — in our community, our nation, and around the world. It may call us to become more flexible, more resilient and more compassionate as we work together to advance the university. Whatever changes may come, our mission remains the same as it has been for nearly 150 years: to lead, innovate and impact as Colorado’s comprehensive research university.
You can expect to hear from me and other campus leaders throughout the coming months as we navigate the future together and advance our shared goals.
I hope your winter break will be a time of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Thank you again for all you do for one another, for our students, and in service to CU Boulder. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the months and years ahead.
Warmest wishes,
Justin
